Grill a burger, drink a beer and say a prayer

For many Americans, Memorial Day means a 3 day weekend, trips to the lake, fishing, picnics, outdoor grilling, Indy 500, Coca Cola 600 and other summer type activities. Seldom do we stop to consider the true reason for Memorial Day: to honor the sacrifices that members of our military have made to keep this country of ours free.

So while you grill burgers and drink your beer, ponder on the prices that have been paid for your freedom. Think of the generations of Americans who have gone into harm's way to protect our country, our Constitution and our personal freedom.

Freedom comes at a very dear price. That price is not paid by posturing politicians, community activists or media talking heads. It is paid by the members of our military - our sons and daughters.

Their blood has paid the price for us. Please take a moment amongst your Memorial Day festivities to remember their sacrifices and say a prayer for all past and present members of our military.
