Then Enemy Attacks Americans Again
Once more the privacy of Americans is under full assault and it comes as no surprise that the attack comes from our very own Congress.
Please notice that this massive attack on the privacy of every American who uses a credit card is not coming from President Bush or the evil Republicans. It is the handiwork of Senator Christopher Dodd, a member of the Democrat party representing Connecticut.
One can not help but wonder why the Democrats believe the government needs a record of every credit card transaction for every American citizen and just what is it that they plan to do with this information? Why is it the one of the leaders of the party of the common man is trying to delve this deeply into YOUR PRIVATE SPENDING habits?
Other questions that come to mind include
America wake up. While President Bush certainly deserves much of the criticism heaped on him, the truth is that the Democrat/socialist controlled Congress is every bit as much to blame for attacks upon our freedom, upon our economy and upon our very way of life.

Washington, DC - Hidden deep in Senator Christopher Dodd's 630-page Senate housing legislation is a sweeping provision that affects the privacy and operation of nearly all of America’s small businesses. The provision, which was added by the bill's managers without debate this week, would require the nation's payment systems to track, aggregate, and report information on nearly every electronic transaction to the federal government.
FreedomWorks Chairman Dick Armey commented: "This is a provision with astonishing reach, and it was slipped into the bill just this week. Not only does it affect nearly every credit card transaction in America, such as Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express, but the bill specifically targets payment systems like eBay's PayPal, Amazon, and Google Checkout that are used by many small online businesses. The privacy implications for America's small businesses are breathtaking."

Why is this buried in a housing bailout bill?

How will the government protect this data?
How much will we have to pay to enable them to spy on us?

You asked 4 very good questions at the end. Let me try to answer them (in a serious manner, not my usual flippant way):
1. So that it can go undetected.
2. See #1.
Really, we should stop there, pull it out of the bill and put an end to it.
Continuing...
3. In a minimalist way, like they do all of their other data.
4. As much as they can extract from us.
This bill is such a crock.
Anyone who votes for this bill should be run out of office. And I don't are if its a tiny section of a 630 page bill. Why are bills 630 pages anyway?
I don't think anyone should vote on a bill unless:
1. They've read it
2. Understand it
If they haven't done either, then it should be an automatic no.
But, that's not the way things are today. It's just more greed & power from those in office.
Do these people have no soul when they get in office, or does the polpig climate extract it from them?
as the saying goes - power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
